LocalFare 2012

cover

I am very pleased to welcome you to the third issue of LocalFare magazine. As the Executive Director of the Manitoba Restaurant and Foodservices Association, I am proud to promote our members through this publication and celebrate the culinary pleasures of our province.

With over 30 profiles in this edition there is a restaurant to suit everyone’s taste. Start a family tradition with the Pancake House’s breakfast offerings, enjoy some tappas and wine with friends at Promenade Café and Wine or take an international trip with Cafe Savour’s five-course menu. With so many more establishments to choose from you could enjoy a new culinary experience every week and still never have the same dish twice.

Also in this edition we’re serving up some great feature articles. For those of you who received a new iPad 2 for Christmas, we have broken down the best foodie apps in Bring Your App-etite.

For those that prefer old-school written recipes, we’ve got Red River College Culinary Arts Instructor, Karl Oman’s, back to basics dishes, including cooking the perfect boiled egg and pasta. And you certainly won’t need your iPhone to tell you what to stock in your pantry thanks to our photo spread, courtesy of Chef Mary Jane Feeke, that highlights what you always need to have on hand in order to cook almost any dish.

Last, but certainly not least, this year we are very excited to have some Manitoba sports superstars on our cover and in between the pages. Never before have Goldie, Buzz, Boomer, Green Drop and Mick E. Moose been altogether for a photo or discussed some very important issues, such as Buzz’s penchant for Hooters (solely for the wings of course).
